PHOTO BOOK I’M LOVING
I'm a big fan of Finn's work so this was straight on the pre-order when it announced. The content is great, as I'd expected, but the actual physical book is so beautiful as well. It feels and looks quality which makes it somethingI want to keep coming back to.
It's a nice way to take a break at my desk, to dive into a little wanderlust.
Fair warning, you'll be travel planning within hours of picking it up.
BOOK I’M READING
How To Write One Song - Jeff Tweedy
My ambitions to be a songwriter were extinguished a long time ago. This book is about much more than that. It’s about rediscovering the joy of creating things for the sake of creating them. Finding a childhood passion for just doing stuff.
I’ve never highlighted a book more.
And it’s got me listening to Wilco loads as well, which is a nice bonus.
Go read it, then make something.
THE BEST SHOW I’M WATCHING
The Good Place
Not long ago I listened to an interview with show creator Michael Schur. It was so interesting and insightful, I immediately ordered his book and took a dive into The Good Place. I've watched (and loved) most of the other shows he's worked on like The Office, Parks & Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine & Master of None.
The book is literally the only philosophy book I've actually enjoyed, and the show is a really fun spin off of that.
I'm currently mid-way through season 3 and it's getting a little slow, but I've been reliably assured there's a big pay off on the way. It's a perfect c. 20 min easy watcher with a bit more depth than a lot of other shows in that category.
I've also sent a few less than perfect friends a copy of the book, it's so good!
A LITTLE TRASH
Eurovision
My wife LOVES Eurovision. She's all in on the Euro food and drink, scorecards. Excitement runs high in our house every May.
Me...I like being a bit of a Twitter bitch while it's on and I am all in on the camp nonsense over the boring ballads.
Which leads me nicely to Norway.
This was absolutely batshit and I LOVED IT
