I am a photographer of people, in all of their glorious forms.

My earliest photography encounters were photographing bands in basement venues around the country. From there I progressed to official photographer for T in the Park and TRNSMT festivals, editorial work for national music mags NME & Kerrang!, BBC, STV and loads of other press. My affection for working in the music world lingers, both in the arenas and stadiums of the live show, the backstage corridors and recording studio and all the way back to my own photography studio. There’s an energy in that world that I strive to carry through to all of my work.

I live on the outskirts of Glasgow in Scotland with my daughter Joni (yup, like that Joni) and my wife Cat. My studio is in central Glasgow. I work on location, anywhere you’d like to take me.

Photography is a practice that’s about constantly learning and evolving.

In my work I’m often drawn to create something enigmatic, exploring layers of story, revealing (or not) the motivations of my subjects. I quickly evolved from those hometown landscapes to photographing people and their stories. It’s in faces and characters that I find my motivation to keep on shooting. The most rewarding experience is finding a photo in a set that truly captures the essence of the subject. Those are good days. One of my main ambitions on shoot day is to work in a relaxed and fun environment, creating a space for everybody involved to feel like they’re on the best shoot in forever. I think it’s a solid foundation for creating the best work.

I’m in my element when I have the opportunity to creatively explore and interpret a brief. That’s also why you’ll so often find me in the studio shooting personal work. It’s about remembering that even when the stakes are high and the deadline is tight, it’s still about having fun making images.
