BBC 6 Music Fix In Glasgow

When you get control over the music in work, what are you putting on? Do you cave to the pressure of trying to impress colleagues? Straight to Kylie? Invariably, almost always, I go to 6 music. I wasn’t an OG, but when the BBC threatened to kill it and there was a campaign launched to save it, I stumbled my way in and have never left.

It’s home to my favourite insightful, interesting and discerning DJs during the week, and their specialist programming is phenomenal. Did you hear the Iggy Pop & Tom Waits show recently? Sublime!

Going in to work at Pacific Quay (BBC’s Scottish headquarters) is always fun, but especially so on this trip.

New Music Fix, hosted by Tom Ravenscroft & Deb Grant, was in Glasgow for the week, showcasing some of the best new music from Scotland.

Over the course of a few days, on commission for Loftus Media, I photographed sessions by mind melting jazz by Corto Alto ft maybe the best drummer I’ve ever seen, scuzzy punk by CumGirl8 and a half hour of total bangers by Miso Extra. Despite what my Spotify wrapped says, I have pretty eclectic tastes, but this was a wild throw around the genres. So much fun!

It was capped by an incredible set by Sofia Kourtesis at SWG3 and a heart pounding mix by Sega Bodega, on the floor fully in amongst it.

It’s been a while since I was the multiple gigs a week gig photographer, this was a lovely dipping of my toe, with some phenomenal artists.

Thanks for having me, 6. Love ya x
