A Year In Gigs - Part 2

Firstly, hello and thank you to the many new followers on board after this snowboarding post was 'Freshly Pressed' on the wordpress homepage. This is the follow up to the first part of my Year In Gig Photography. Some of my favourite photographs, and artists included here. Check out Part 1 if you haven't already and get an idea of how my year has sounded. Massive thanks to all who have helped out along the way, I owe so many favours, I'll get them all paid back one day ;-)

July

Foo Fighters - T In The Park Main Stage Eh, aye, so this was the best thing ever, and 3 songs have never disappeared quicker. It's tempting to run the length of the stage following him but doubt anybody in the pit could keep up.

Judas Priest - SECC First time at the SECC, some mad pyro and a crazy fun frontman. Great fun shooting this one. No idea how he lasts in the leather jacket with all those flames going off! Some exposure nightmare c/o the flames, team RAW to the rescue!

August

Bronto Skylift - ABC A rival to Dave Grohl for the 'nicest man in rock' tag, and probably a better drummer. Plays with multiple bands but with Bronto Skylift he is a tornado and amazing to photograph. This was supporting Jello Biafra.

Jello Biafra - ABC Former frontman of the Dead Kennedys, what an intense show to shoot. No pit so it was in amongst the middle-age po-goers trying to keep the camera from going flying.

September

Public Enemy - ABC So this is my favourite show that I've ever shot. Incredible. Two shots from this one because I still smile thinking about Flava getting in my face!

Public Enemy - ABC

October

Yann Tiersen - ABC Bit of a quiet month for shows as I was off on holiday for the majority of it. This one was right after I came back and in desperate need of getting back in the swing after some time off.

November

Arctic Monkeys - SECC

Death Cab For Cutie - O2 Academy

Little Dragon - The Arches

December

December was initially looking like it might be a quiet month before a few phone calls came in, the first being to shoot this show. I was at the Arab Strap reunion show the month prior so it was a treat to see Malcolm again so soon playing a great show.

My final (working) show of the year was a bit of a treat. The Phantom Band put on a stellar line-up and went to great lengths to pull off their 'Phantomime' with guest performances from Vic Galloway and Ally McCrae. This first shot is of the epic Holy Mountain who have just signed to Chemikal Underground. The one below is my last shot of the gig of The Phantom Band rocking it.

It's been a pretty great year, some ups, some downs, but nothing I'd change. The terror of venturing into doing this full time is still burning in my chest but it's still the best decision I've made! Thank you so much those who check out and comment this blog, it's so much appreciated to know that there are people out there looking. I already have some things lined up for the start of next year that I'm excited to share, so make sure you keep stopping by.

Happy holidays whatever you might get up to Euan
